Japanese BBQ Buffalo Wings
My boyfriend has not stopped talking about these wings (or how bad the Giants are).
The best words I could use to describe these wings are “spicy sesame”. Just trust me on this one.
Ingredients
Wings:
1 pound Chicken Wings
2 Tbsp Cornstarch
3/4 Tsp Sea Salt
1/2 Tsp Cracked Black Pepper
Sauce:
2 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
2 Tbsp Frank’s Red Hot
2 Tbsp Bachan’s Original Japanese BBQ Sauce
4 Cloves Garlic. Minced
1/2 Tsp Sesame Oil
1 Tbsp Honey
1 Green Onion, Diced
1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
Instructions:
Adjust oven rack to the upper-middle position. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F
Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with non-stick spray (I like to use Avocado Oil)
Pat wings dry with a paper towel (the dryer the better) and place in a large bowl
Combine cornstarch with salt and pepper and coat sprinkle seasoning over the wings, tossing to evenly coat
Arrange wings on baking sheet and bake, turning every 20 minutes until the wings are crispy and browned. About an hour
Remove from the oven and let wings stand for 5 minutes. Transfer wings to bowl and toss with sauce
Top with remaining green onions and enjoy with your fav dipping sauce
For the Sauce:
Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat
Add in Garlic and half the Green Onions and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute
Add in sesame oil, red hot, bbq sauce, honey and red pepper flakes
Bring to simmer then switch to low heat to thicken, about 5 to 7 minutes
Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature
Notes:
You can double/triple the recipe depending on how many pounds of wings you are making at a time
